Details, details...
Can you believe it's already March 15th? That date is the day that Elaine will be charging the credit card you gave her when she collected the deposits back in January, unless you contact her. While that means that it's time to give up the green, on the bright side, it'll be official!
Elaine is also working to collect travel itineraries so she can set up all the ground transportation. If you haven't booked your flights yet, now's definitely the time! This is also the last time we can add or subtract people to the hotel rooms, and the wedding itself, so please let me or Elaine know if there's been any changes to your plans/guests, etc.
In local news, Laura and I have been doing the dress fitting thing, which includes the dieting and requisite gym work and we're having fun. Now onto new thoughts like shoes and jewelry... which is also a tough job. ;) Dave and I are working on a small cocktail celebration for SB friends on Friday June 3rd, and I know our families are putting the time in on some wonderful wedding showers in the meantime, which we're thrilled about. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work, and bring on the festivities! We can't wait.

Happy Presidents day... and stuff
Happy Birthday Jen! |
On to business...At this point, all your rooms should be booked, and if you haven't gotten airfare, now's the time. [We always suggest Kayak.com.] If you're all set with both items, please send your itineraries to Elaine, so she can book all the ground transportation for you. PS--Anyone interested in a pre-wedding excursion to Chitzen-Itza should contact my aunt Jeanne, who is currently putting together her own group package overnight in the jungle. (She'll let you know dates & costs.)
What's your plan? |
We're also working on setting up a Santa Barbara reception for friends and family who cannot make it to Mexico, or who just can't get enough. So far we're holding Friday night, June 3... again, more details to follow as they come together!
Well, let's all celebrate the presidents by sleeping late and watching lots of tv. If you have any Q's about anything mentioned here, send 'em my way.
Viva-- Ang

5 Hotels in SB for under $100
Quick post today: 5 Santa Barbara Hotels for under $100 from the LA Times. My personal recommendation is the newly renovated and uber-trendy Presidio Motel, or their new sister motel, the Agave Inn. Just the basics as far as amenities go -- but proving it is possible to stay downtown for under $100.

Happy New Year!
In other news, the dresses for the bridesmaids are arriving, and they are a testament to Laura's great fashion taste. She picked a very hip color called Firecracker, which fits the celebration vibe quite well. In addition, that color seems to be highlighting all my wedding magazines this season, and the dresses are designs by Cynthia Rowley. Very cool on all levels. She's thrown down the style gauntlet, and I can't wait to see everyone's personal spin on it. ;) Ladies in the bridal party -- please touch base with Laura if you haven't already bought your dress.
Dave and I have also added a nifty little Honeymoon Registry, which fits our trip a little more than the traditional registry. Seems like a fun idea to receive massages or manicures instead of crystal stemware ... which would never find a home in our little casita anyway.
Finally, if you're looking for me in the next few months, check the gym. It's time to get in the fitness groove, and get ready for some dress fittings... soon enough it will be time to go bikini shopping.
Cheers, and Happy New Year everyone -- Angie
PS, the word of the month is Passport. -- Passport passport passport -- Do you know where yours is? Check those expiration dates, get that paperwork sent in, do whatever you gotta do, worst case scenario is up to 90 days for a new passport... consider yourselves warned

Time to put down your deposit
Also, if you don't have a passport, now is the time to get one! Passports seem to take forever to get when you need one, so don't delay if yours is expiring or non-existant...
Thanks again for wanting to join us on this big adventure.
